Excel to CSV / XML / YAML

Convert Excel (.xlsx) and CSV files into CSV, XML or YAML right in your browser. The first row becomes the field names, each following row becomes one record. Choose your output format, pick which columns to keep, preview the result and download it — all processed locally with SheetJS, nothing leaves your device.

Columns (first row — select at least one)

Open a file to choose columns.

How to use Excel to CSV / XML / YAML

Open a local .xlsx or .csv file and convert it to CSV, XML or YAML entirely in your browser with SheetJS. The file is read locally — nothing is ever uploaded.

File format rules

  • The first row must contain the column names. Complex multi-line or merged multi-column headers are not supported — use a single header row.
  • Every following row becomes one record; empty cells become empty values.
  • CSV files must be UTF-8 encoded. Supported extensions: .xlsx, .csv.

Steps

  • Open — pick a file; the header row and a column list appear.
  • Output format — choose CSV, XML or YAML.
  • Columns — check the columns you want in the output (at least one; all are selected by default).
  • Convert — generate the output; switch the format and convert again to preview it.
  • Download — saves the current result as a file matching the chosen format.
  • Clear — empties the result pane.

Output format notes

  • CSV — comma-separated, with proper quoting and escaping of embedded commas, quotes and newlines.
  • XML — a <root> wrapper with one <row> per record; element names come from the column headers (spaces and invalid characters are cleaned).
  • YAML — one flow-style block per record with the header names as keys.

Tip: for very large sheets the tool caps the number of rows it converts to protect memory; the export still reflects the processed rows.
